AN OPEN LETTER TO MR.KEJRIWAL BY AN AAM AADMI
Respected sir,
I had the honours of going through the website of
the 'Aam Aadmi Party' yesterday and found out a collummn wherein any person
could apply for getting the ticket of the party in the upcoming Lok Sabha
Elections,it is a welcome step that the otherwise 'vieled' procedure of
allotment of tickets by other entities has not been taken up by your party. but
i have certain doubts about the effectiveness of the process and eligibility
criteria you have asked for, in the nomination form and how an 'aam aadmi' will
be able to fulfill all those requirements.
1. There is a collummn requiring 100 proposers
from each legislative assembly seat from the Lok Sabha constituency you wish to
be nominated, the inherent problem in this clause as i find,is how can an 'AAM
AADMI' who wishes to contest the election find such proposers in all the
legislative seats in his constituency,for example the Gautam Budh Nagar seat has 5 legislative
seats under it,the ones like Secunderabad,Jewar and khurja are in no way
similar to Noida and Dadri seat and there is a very slim chance of an aam
aadmi,even if he is an active social worker in his area to have such wide coverage,thus it seems
highly improbable that he be able to find such proposers ,and this is thus a clear demerit for him and also an
opportunity for those having resources and political means,this condition seems
to be doctored for the 'khaas aadmi's'.
2.Even if there be some fortunate few who find
such proposers,the time limit provided by you is highly impractical,how can a
person,with limited means be expected to fulfill this condition within a week or so(it is
expected by AAP to submit the forms last by the 15th of this month).
3.There is then a fundamental question that still
exists, even if some of the nominees do get this condition fulfilled,isnt it
possible that the proposers have done so with an ulterior motive,how would
these questions be answered even by the national commitee,this poses a serius
question of unethical means used by nominees just to be eligible.
4.The form in point no.13 asks 'wether you have
read the book 'SWARAJ' by MR.Kejriwal and what are you opinions in this regard'
...this is a sort of a requirement-since nobody would like to fill in that
he/she hasnt read the book,when we talk of democracy and freedom of speech and
expression,we also talk of freedom not to express our views on something or
freedom to choose what we wish read,in a decentralised party such as 'AAP'
,such a requirement ,which may lead to another 'personality cult' should be
done away with.
MY SUGGESTIONS:
FOR A REAL DEMOCRACY,EVERY PERSON SHOULD BE GIVEN
AN EQUAL CHANCE OF CONTESTING THE ELECTION,SPECIALLY FROM A PARTY,WHICH HAS
CAPTURED THE IMAGINATION OF THE NATION AND PREACHES TO BE THE 'PARTY OF THE
PEOPLE'
1.The requirement of 100 proposers from each
assembly seat should be done away with,it is understood that it is
provided to eliminate non serius
candidates,but there is an ample chance that this would also be a big barrier
for the resourseless but highly efficient and vigilant young leaders as well as
not so rich social workers.
2.The date to submit the forms be extended so
that qualified and well educated as well as those with requisite qualities be able to fulfill the
conditions required.
3.Point no. 13 be deleted from the form due to
the above mentioned reasons.
I hope the
party takes into account these suggestion and works on the principles each
preaches.
